S is for Stitch

It has been a long long long time coming but I have finally put the binding on this little baby girl quilt  for a very dear and good friend. I started in a BOW quilt a long over two years ago but faired poorly as several major life events took over.

The book is S is for Stitch by Kristyne Czepuryk. It is a sweet and easy introduction to hand embroidery. My first attempt ever and so not exactly perfect, although I'm quite happy with the outcome.

Whereupon I express gratitude for quilting

Well I think I have a fairly good idea of why I would want to express this gratitude. Sewing with all these delicious fabrics is honestly like eating chocolate. Truly, my brain starts lighting up like the Northern Lights. However let it be said in advance, the lighting here is awful and my phone is hardly a good camera. I need to start taking pictures outside.

I've cut into the above mess and started work on this...

Also, just to give you the heads up, there have been some big events around here lately and so blogging is sporadic. I can't talk about all of it, but I can say it is all in God's hands.

That said I can share with you some of the progress I've done in the midst of what has been a very full school year to date.

This has some fabric for a border coming to it before the end of the week:

Such awful light again with a blurry picture to boot I'm sorry. This time I blame it on taking pictures late at night with my phone. Planning on some straight-line quilting and a scrappy binding.

K is for Kitten... and a few more

As usual, distracted by life, here I am very late.

Here is K for Kitten and the rest that I haven't linked up with. Since getting an embroidery hoop, however, I am seeing a big improvement in my stitches, not to mention a faster pace of stitching.

ABC BOW week 5

Here is E for Egg finally. Looking forward to the long weekend and so get ahead on this project. I've been planning out the quilt layout and have decided on something so will build the blocks this weekend too.

ABC Quilt Along Week 4

I could give my reasons for being late with 'C' but the honest truth is I was never very good at excuses. Like Tanya says, these are very quick to do. However I'm looking ahead at the rest of the blocks for the girl quilt and I have to say that I'm a little intimidated. So I'm thinking of some nephews who might like their own version after I've finished this one.

ABC Quilt Along Week 2

So I have stumbled through my first attempt at embroidery on something other than Aida (which of course is so much easier). I've fallen in love with the amazing designs I've seen so this is the perfect opportunity to try it out, not to mention a beautiful book. Thank you Liz for the opportunity!

On another note, what are you all using for stabilizing other than batting? I haven't checked what the book has to say if it does at all.
